How Top Hospice Care is funded, how paid listings are labeled, and what payment can never buy, including a Verified badge.

Top Hospice Care is free for families. We pay for the site by selling clearly labeled listings and advertising to hospices. This page explains how that works and what money can and cannot buy.
How we make money
- Verified plans. Hospices pay a flat annual fee for an enhanced profile after passing our license and Medicare checks.
- Featured placement. Hospices pay a flat annual fee to appear at the top of a county page. These listings are labeled “Featured.”
- Sponsored articles. Hospices pay a one-time fee to publish an article in our Hospice Guide. These articles are labeled “Sponsored” and name the sponsor.
- Job posts. When available, hospices may pay to post job openings.

What money cannot buy
- A Verified badge. Verification depends only on official records, as described in our verification standards. A hospice that fails our checks cannot keep a paid plan.
- Changes to public data. Medicare data, certification dates and survey results shown on profiles come from official sources and are not edited for payment.
- Editorial content. Hospices do not pay for, review or approve our Hospice Guide articles, except articles labeled “Sponsored.”
- Referrals. We do not refer patients, we do not share family contact information with hospices, and we never charge per lead, call, admission or patient.
How listings are ordered
On county pages, Featured listings appear first and are labeled. All other listings are shown in a neutral order, such as alphabetically, and are not ranked by payment.
Sponsored articles
We edit sponsored articles for accuracy, plain language and compliance with our editorial policy. We reject articles that make medical claims we cannot support, promise outcomes, or criticize other hospices. Links in sponsored articles are marked as sponsored for search engines.
Third-party links
We do not currently use affiliate links. If we ever do, we will label them and update this page.
