Families use our Hospice Guide during some of the hardest weeks of their lives. These are the standards we hold our content to.
Our sources
Our guides are based on research from official and well-established sources, including Medicare.gov, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), federal regulations, the National Institutes of Health, state health departments and respected nonprofit organizations. We cite our sources on each page so you can check them. We do not base guides on hospice marketing materials.
How we write
- Plain language that a worried family member can follow
- Facts separated from opinion, and no promises about outcomes
- Honest about limits: when the answer depends on the patient, we say so and point you to the care team
- Respectful of every family’s choices, including choosing not to use hospice
Review and updates
We review guides when Medicare rules or official guidance change and at least once a year. Each guide shows when it was last updated. Our content is written and edited by our editorial team. When a page has been reviewed by a credentialed clinician, we name the reviewer and their credentials on that page. Until then, pages do not claim medical review.
Independence from advertisers
Hospices cannot pay to appear in, change or approve our editorial guides. Paid content is limited to listings marked “Featured” and articles marked “Sponsored,” as explained in our advertising disclosure.
Directory data
Hospice profiles start from public CMS data and are updated as that data is refreshed. Hospices can request corrections, and we check changes against official records before publishing them. See our verification standards.
Corrections
If you find an error, email listings@tophospicecare.com with the page address and what needs fixing. We review every report and correct confirmed errors promptly.
